7-20-10-Wayland Farms Lead The Way in Renewable Energy
Boston- State Senator Richard Ross and Representative Thomas Conroy are pleased to announce Russells Garden Center and Mainstone Farm, both of Wayland, are recipients of a Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s (MassCEC) Commonwealth Solar Stimulus Rebate. Russels Garden Center received a grant of over $37,000 and Mainstone Farm, over $47,000. The program provides rebates through a non-competitive process to commercial, industrial, institutional and public facilities who install solar power equipment.
Senator Ross who supports efforts to increase the use of renewable energy praised the two local operations for their ability to not only see the environmental benefits of using solar power but the financial savings as well.
“The use of renewable energy by these two local operations in a practical and cost efficient manner should serve as an example for other businesses around the Commonwealth,” said Senator Ross. “When more businesses begin to embrace the idea of renewable energy, they will see the benefits of using new alternative methods of energy distribution and consumption.”
Representative Conroy is also encouraged by the ever growing use of renewable energy here in the Commonwealth. “Congratulations to Russell's and Mainstone Farms for leading by example in the use of renewable energy technology and getting rewarded for it from the federal government. I hope that customers also reward the leadership of these great local businesses by patronizing them in the future."
The Commonwealth Solar Stimulus program received $8 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund renewable energy rebates. Each rebate is based on the size and specifics of each photovoltaic (PV) project.
